A common ask from finance teams adopting Biller Genie: "Can I build a custom report?" or "Can I schedule a report to email itself every Monday morning?" Here's an honest current-state answer to both, what we offer today instead, and how to request these features formally.
Current state: not in product today
| Feature | Available? |
|---|---|
| Custom report builder (drag-and-drop columns, custom filters, saved views) | Not today |
| Auto-send reports on a schedule (e.g. email me a CSV every Monday) | Not today |
| PDF export of reports | Not today (CSV/Excel only) |
| API access to report data | Partial — see Public API, Webhooks, and Zapier |
| Manual CSV export of each individual report | Yes — every report has an Export to CSV button |
| Per-column filtering and sorting on every report | Yes |
What works today (the workarounds)
Export the report to CSV manually
Every report in Biller Genie has an Export to CSV button. Apply your filters first, then export to get a CSV (technically saved as .xlsx — the filename has .xlsx but the content is CSV; most spreadsheet apps open it cleanly).
For recurring reporting needs (weekly A/R aging, monthly transaction summary), pair this with a calendar reminder for your team. Not as elegant as auto-send but it works.
Filter the existing reports for your specific view
A lot of "custom report" needs are actually filter combinations of existing reports. Examples:
- "Overdue invoices by customer type" — filter the Invoices grid by Status = Overdue, sort by Customer.
- "All ACH payments last month" — open All Transactions, filter by Date Range + Payment Type = ACH.
- "Failed autopay attempts this week" — open the Auto-Pay Declines report, sort by Decline Date.
If you turn on Persistent Filters in Control Panel > Settings, your filter setup is remembered across sessions — see Configure General Settings.
Use your accounting software's reports
For broader financial reporting (P&L, balance sheet, A/R aging across all customers, sales by item / category / class), your accounting software (QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, or Xero) has more powerful native reporting than Biller Genie does. Because Biller Genie syncs invoices and payments to your accounting software, any reporting on top of QBO/QBD/Xero reflects everything that flowed through Biller Genie. Many of our larger merchants use Biller Genie for the operational A/R workflow and pull period-end reports from QBO/Xero.
For sophisticated reporting: connect via the Connect API
For data-warehouse / BI use cases, the Biller Genie Connect API provides read access to a subset of your data. The current endpoint set is limited (customers, sales receipts, tax rates) — see Public API, Webhooks, and Zapier. We're actively expanding this surface based on customer demand; if a specific data shape would unlock a reporting need for you, tell us.
How to request these features
Custom report builder and scheduled exports are both on our roadmap and frequently requested. The more we hear from customers about specific use cases, the higher they prioritize. To put a request on the record:
- Submit a feature request — see Submit a Feature Request.
- Tell us the specific use case (e.g. "I want a weekly emailed CSV of all open invoices over 60 days late") — concrete scenarios shape feature design.
- If your team would adopt the feature as a paid add-on or upgrade, mention that — it weighs into prioritization.
