Allowing Partial Payments on Invoices

By default, Biller Genie requires customers to pay invoices in full. You can enable partial payments at the account level so customers can choose any amount up to the invoice total when paying online.

How to enable partial payments

  • Open Control Panel > Settings.
  • Set Enable Partial Payments to Yes.
  • Click Save Settings.

Once enabled, this applies to every customer and every invoice. There is no per-customer or per-invoice partial-payments toggle.

What customers see after partial payments are enabled

In the Customer Portal and on the public invoice payment page, customers see an amount field they can edit. They can enter any amount from one cent up to the full invoice total. After paying a partial amount, the invoice remains open with the remaining balance, and reminders continue per your normal cadence.

When partial payments do NOT apply

Autopay always pays the full invoice amount. Partial payments are only for customer-initiated transactions where the customer chooses to pay less than the total.
