Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Digital Wallets in Biller Genie

Apple Pay lets your customers pay an invoice in one tap using the card stored in their Apple Wallet, with no typing of card numbers. It is available now in Biller Genie on supported payment gateways.

Where customers see it

When a customer opens their invoice on a supported Apple device (iPhone, iPad, or Safari on a Mac) and has a card in Apple Wallet, a Pay with Apple Pay button appears automatically alongside the usual card and bank options. It shows up in:

  • The Customer Portal, when paying a single invoice
  • The Customer Portal, when paying multiple invoices at once (bulk pay)
  • Statement and payment links sent to the customer

On devices or browsers that do not support Apple Pay (for example Chrome on Windows, or an Android phone), the button simply does not appear and the customer pays as they normally would. There is nothing for the customer to set up beyond having a card in their Apple Wallet.

Which gateways support it

  • Authorize.Net and NMI: supported.
  • Other gateways (including Elavon EPG): not yet supported.

Apple Pay runs on your existing gateway and deposits to the same account as your other card payments. Processing rates are unchanged.

How to turn it on

Apple Pay is not a self-serve setting in your account. It is enabled per gateway by Biller Genie. If you are on Authorize.Net or NMI and would like Apple Pay available to your customers, contact Biller Genie support and we will enable it for your gateway. Once enabled, the button appears to eligible customers automatically. No changes to your invoices or reminders are needed.

Refunds and voids

Apple Pay transactions void and refund exactly like any other card payment from the Transactions screen. Because Apple Pay uses a device-specific card number, the last four digits shown in Biller Genie are the wallet's device number rather than the physical card, so they will match the void or refund record.

Google Pay and other wallets

Apple Pay is the first digital wallet available in Biller Genie. Google Pay and other wallets are not available yet. This article will be updated as more options are added.
